Club Minutes
Date: April 2, 2007
Members present: Chuck, Walt, Tom, Denis, Andy, Al, Jeff, Scott and Mark.
Southern Region Report: The Southern Region dues were refunded back to the club since the club made 100%
attendance and shouldn’t have paid dues for 2007. Kevin Waterman returned the check that the Southern Region
had given him towards expenses for the Classic, the region will make a donation to the youth in his name. The
membership breakdown per regions is as follows: West 202, Southern 236, Central 69, and Northern 143. Jim
Adair the Conservation Rep for the Southern Region still needs clubs to contact him with ideas and projects that
each will do for conservation. 7 Clubs are entered in the BCWC set for April 7. The Federation TX Trail for 2008
has been set: April 5 Potomac; June 21 Deep Creek; July 26 Nanticoke; September 13 Potomac; May 3/4 Mr.
Bass Potomac; May 17/18 SQT Upper Bay. The Southern Region Tournament will be on October 13, 2007 at
Smallwood State Park. The BCWC Qualifier for July 2008 Regional is April 12, 2008 on the Upper Bay. The 2009
BCWC Qualifier is on October 4, 2008 at Deep Creek for the July 2009 Regional. The SQT 2009 will be 3rd week
of June on Deep Creek Lake. 2007 Workers scheduled for SQT are: day 1, Captains Choice and Run N’ Gun;
day 2, Bass Crazy and Bank & Boat. There is a possible PVA tournament for the Potomac River on July 7; it will
be done jointly with Walter Reed hospital. Southern Region Rep. Schedule: April Walt, May open, June Scott, July
open, Aug. open, Sep. Mark, Oct. Adam, Nov. open, Dec. Denis.
New Business: The SQT team has been decided with disappointing club participation, Andy, Adam, Tom, Chuck
and Denis. 2007 Crofton Kids TX will be on August 25 and again volunteers seems to be minimal by club
members, Denis would like to know if CHOA could possibly set a date a year in advance. Denis wants input and
feedback on website also for everyone to look at the profiles and make changes. Members seem to be having
trouble logging onto members only pages, Denis will try to straighten it out.
Old Business: Bylaws were reviewed with one change to be made; add vote for special circumstances for inactive
members to be extended beyond 1 year. This is what we had before the current system. Last month the club
voted to use receipts for all cash paid for dues. This idea was rejected by the treasurer, he said it was not
needed, the club resigned not to pursue the issue any farther.
Tournament Report: Tom gave the tournament results for Falls Lake. Schedules still have not been handed out,
to get tournament info you must go to the website.

Southern Region Report: Southern Region Treasury is $1061.43, after a $500.00 donation to the MBF Youth. Jim
Adair reported that the Indian Head Bypass is going under survey, and the he has not received any conservation
suggestions from any clubs yet, contact him at MDHAWGS@Comcast.net. Southern Region TX is set for October
13, and the MBF TX on the Potomac that was canceled has been rescheduled for October 14, refunds only no
new applications. Club profile sheets will be on the website for perspective members to view. There will be a PVA
TX on the Potomac on July 8 and they need about 25 boat captains, it will be a very relaxed atmosphere. May

New Business: The SQT team is very disappointing with club participation, Andy, Adam, Chuck. Denis will not be
at the next tournament so several members should bring cameras to take pictures for the club. Harry was voted in
unanimously; also a perspective member was in attendance, Lynn Whitacre no relation to Dickie. Denis handed
out new rosters.
Old Business: 2007 Crofton Kids TX will be on August 25 and again volunteers seem to be minimal by club
members, Walt, Jeff, Chuck. This is a club sponsored event and as such every member should make every effort
to participate, the homeowners association makes a donation to the club each year, maybe the members who
participate should split the money between themselves
Tournament Report: Tom gave out the tournament results for Falls Lake and Susquehanna, also standings to
date. Next TX is on the Potomac out of Ft. Washington, muster is 4am at Collington Plaza. The make up for the
first Potomac, which was postponed, is October 28; this will make that a two day TX out of Smallwood. Chuck
brought up the fact that not everyone was ready for the weigh-in, it had been decided long ago that the weigh
would take place after everyone was ready. Tom addressed this with “this was a difficult situation”.

Southern Region Report: Jim Adair the Conservation Rep for the Southern Region still needs clubs to contact him
with ideas and projects that each will do for conservation. Southern Region Tournament will be on October 13,
2007 at Smallwood State Park, applications should be available at the next meeting. This TX will be $50.00 a boat,
100% payback to 20% of field, $10.00 extra for lunker and there will be a cookout afterwards. There will be no
more May Southern Region meeting, there were no fines for the SQT help and there was plenty of youth help.
July 8 is the PVA they need 25-30 boats, contact unknown. B.A.S.S. Gary Jones is out Don Corchran is in as
Federation Nation Director. Monthly meeting reps: Aug. open; Sep. Mark; Oct. Adam; Nov. open; Dec. open.
New Business: The club will participate in its first Conservation Project outside of Crofton. We will meet 6:00 pm on
Wednesday 13 at the Bingo World on Belle Grove Road and then go clean up around the edge of the water of the
ponds.
Old Business: Crofton Kids Tournament, which is a club sponsored function, still does not have many members
who have committed to be there. Walt, Jeff, Chuck, Scott and Tom are the only ones so far. You should make
every effort to attend this event it will be very difficult for 5 people to give this event the attention it so deserves.
Tournament Report: The next TX is on Middle River, muster is at 4:30 am at Jumpers Hole, we launch out of either
Wilson Point Park or Dundee Marina.

Southern Region Report: Southern Region report was presented by Denis. Scott Sewell got 6 reef balls (the size of
basketballs). He will put them under some docks in Middle River, where he can study their effectiveness. DNR
gave the MBF 6,000 fingerlings, most of which will be put in the Choptank. PVA got 15 boats for the tournament
this month but they may need a few camera boats. The directory info will be on the website and a new one will be
published for the Presidents Conference in 2008. Southern Region TX will be on October 13, email Denis for an
application, $40.00 per boat plus a $10.00 lunker fee. JR World Champion Qualifier will be on Deep Creek Lake.
The Southern Region meeting reps are: July (Tom), Aug. (open), Sep. (Mark), Oct. (Adam), Nov. (open), Dec.
(open).
New Business: Crabtowne Bassmasters asked to borrow the weigh table and sink for their tournament and the club
voted yes to allow. Lynn Whitacre was voted into the club, vote was unanimous. Safety check on all club boats
next tournament which is the Choptank. Information on shirts will be discussed at the next meeting.
Old Business: 2007 Crofton Kids TX will be on August 25 and again we will need door prizes, bring to the August
meeting. The money that is owed to the club by Jeff king was voted on to be paid for by the table and sink the club
uses for weigh-ins.
Tournament Report: Tom gave out the tournament results for Middle River and Potomac River 2. He also gave out
a copy of the standings. Tom discussed the rearranged pairings for the rest of the year due to new members and
boat break downs (Scott and Dickie). Choptank TX muster time is 4:00 am at the WAWA on route 50. Discussion
on the tournament-call notice and it was advised for the riders to make every attempt to contact their boater
partners before the night of tournament.

Southern Region Report: Southern Region report was presented by Tom. DNR gave the MBF 6,000 fingerlings,
the Choptank will get 5000 and Middle River will get 1000. The directory info will be on the MBF website, it will be
updated every quarter and a hard copy will be published possibly in time for the Presidents Conference in 2008.

New Business: Next meeting will be held on Tuesday September 4. Denis has been updating the club news with
the minutes and happenings but Walt would like to see the TX results in there as well.
Old Business: 2007 Crofton Kids TX will be on August 25 Walt, Tom, Chuck, Jeff, Scott Harry and Walt’s son-in-
law are the only volunteers. If you are able to help out that day please do so, this is a club sponsored event and
you are expected to be present.

no pinch of the tail only a sweep of the tail, the Tournament Director’s decision is final. Club shirts and hats must
be worn at blast off and weigh-in, no shirt and hat no weigh.

Southern Region Report: Southern Region report was presented by Lynn. MBF is going to stock 1000 3-4” bass
fry and 400 6-8” fingerlings in Middle River. MBF received 7 scholarship applications by the deadline. State team
shirts are in. Skeeter will probably renew with the MBF. Southern Region TX will be on October 13, E-mail Denis
for an application, $40.00 per boat plus a $10.00 lunker fee. The So. Region reps are: Sep. Mark, Oct. Adam,
Nov. Dickie, Dec. open.
New Business: Mark would like the meetings to start at 7:00 pm promptly due to school. The awards banquet
location is being sought by several members, possible places: Middleton’s Tavern, Annapolis, Via Mia and Sunset
Lounge, Glen Burnie. If you have any suggestions bring the information with you to the next meeting, we are
looking for some place that will not charge a room fee and that has a well rounded menu that we can pick three
options from, we will be discussing the banquet more in October. November we will be nominating officers for the
club if you are interested in an office let someone know so you can be nominated or nominate yourself, we will use
the same procedure we have always used.
Old Business: 2007 Crofton Kids TX held on August 25 Walt, Tom, Chuck, Jeff, Scott and Harry volunteered for
this event, we had plenty of door prizes but few kids showed up to participate in this event. We had 28 kids
registered and the event ran from 8-12, Big fish was a 4’9.5” Catfish, big bass 1’1.5”, also there was a prize for
the most bluegills caught, each division had a first, second and third place. New shirts was discussed again there
does not seem to be any interest in getting shirts at this time, but the new members were advised as to where to
go to get the logos on shirts.
